Millions of hectares of crops are damaged due to waterlogging.

According to statistics, Punjab had 44 percent more rainfall than the norm in July. Faridkot in Punjab experienced 256.2 mm more rainfall, while Mohali received 472.6 mm more rain. Similarly, Patiala and Rupnagar saw surplus rainfall of 71% and 107%, respectively. During the month of July, Tarn Taran had 151% more rainfall, while Jalandhar received 34% more. This generated a flood-like condition in several areas, and the fresh paddy crop sown on 6.25 lakh acres was flooded. In this scenario, the farmer brothers had to replant paddy on 2.75 lakh acres.
