Retail Tractor Sales Report August 2026: Sales Increased by 0.84%, 87,977 Units Sold

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) tractor retail sales report for August 2026 indicates that the tractor market in India has remained steady. The figures show that approximately 87,977 tractors were retailed during August 2026, up approximately 0.84% from the 87,244 units retailed during August 2025.

Tractor manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra continued to be at number one, and Swaraj Division continued to build Mahindra's base in August 2026. International Tractors Limited and TAFE followed in third and fourth places, respectively.

FADA Tractor Sales August 2026 vs August 2025

Increased in the total tractor retail sales for the year from 87,244 units in August 2025 to 87,977 units in August 2026. That's 733 more tractors than there were at this time last year.

Let's take a look at the performance by brand:

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited: 20,703 in August 2026 and 20,159 in August 2025. Its market share increased from 23.11% to 23.53%.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Swaraj Division): 15,914 units as compared to 15,428 units last year. Market share increased from 17.68% to 18.09%.

International Tractors Limited: 11818 units against 10586 units in August 2025. Market share increased from 12.13% to 13.43%.

TAFE Limited: 10,780 units compared with 11,030 units last year. Market share declined from 12.64% to 12.25%.

Escorts Kubota Limited (Agri Machinery Group): 9,756 units against 8,666 units in August 2025. Market share increased from 9.93% to 11.09%.

John Deere India Pvt Ltd (Tractor Division): 6,294 units vs 5,956 units last year. The market share rose from 6.83% to 7.15%.

Eicher Tractors: 5,590 units as compared to 6,059 units in August 2025. Market share declined from 6.94% to 6.35%.

CNH Industrial (India) Pvt Ltd: 4,170 units compared with 3,934 units last year. Market share increased from 4.51% to 4.74%.

Others: 2,952 units compared with 5,426 units in August 2025. The two together accounted for a total of 6.22% of the market, dropping to 3.36%.

Mahindra has kept its No.1 ranking

In August 2026, the tractor manufacturing segment of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited continued to be the biggest tractor player in the Indian tractor retail market. The company sold 20,703 tractors, an increase from August 2025 when it sold 20,159 tractors.

It also gained market share to 23.53% from 23.11% in the same month of the previous year.

Swaraj Division Mahindra & Mahindra had the second-largest market share with 15,914 units accounting for 18.09% of the market share. In August 2026, the two businesses of Mahindra contributed over 40% to the overall tractor retail market.

International Tractors Records Strong Growth

International Tractors Limited, which is the owner of the brand 'Sonalika' in the field of tractors, saw a significant rise in retail sales. In August 2026, the company shipped 11,818 tractors, up from 10,586 units shipped in August 2025.

This is a growth rate of approximately 11.63% YoY. Its market share also increased significantly from 12.13% to 13.43%.

Escorts Kubota is making strides in the market. Escorts Kubota is gaining market share.

Escorts Kubota also experienced solid gains in the month. Sales of tractors in August 2026 rose to 9,756 units from 8,666 in August 2025.

The company had an approximate growth rate of 12.58% YoY, and market share increased from 9.93% to 11.09%.

TAFE and Eicher See Decline

However, not all manufacturers saw growth during August 2026. There were 10,780 tractors sold, compared to 11,030 in August 2025, a decrease for TAFE Limited. The market share thus fell from 12.64% to 12.25%.

Likewise, the number of Eicher Tractors sold was 5,590 against 6,059 in August 2025. Its market share fell from 6.94% to 6.35%.

The overall Tractor Market remains stable.

According to the data from FADA, the market for tractors in India continued to be flat in August 2026. Total sales increased by just 0.84% YoY, with 87,977 units retailed during the month.

Some of the leading manufacturers such as Mahindra, Swaraj, International Tractors, Escorts Kubota and John Deere consolidated their market share. Meanwhile, TAFE and Eicher had a plunge in sales and market share.

In the near future, the performance of the tractor industry will rely on monsoons, crop output, income of farmers, government policies, agricultural mechanisation and farmers' demand.
